Twisting the night away – Rock on The Rooftop 2016
10th August 2016
Since we love a chance to let our hair down at a good ol' knees up, the Parade team, along with partners and friends got glammed up for the annual 'Rock on the Rooftop' charity event held at The Celtic Manor Resort.
Rock on the Rooftop raises money for St David’s Hospice Care, an amazing, local charity which always receives our full support. St David's provide comprehensive palliative care to people facing life limiting illnesses, ensuring that they have the choice to receive care at home, surrounded by friends and family. They have grown to become one of the UK’s largest provider of hospice at home care, caring for over 3,200 patients and their families every year.
On the day of the event, the temperamental Welsh weather decided to treat us with a days grace, as the sun shone its rays over the luscious, green lawns of Celtic's rooftop garden and views beyond. Just as well, since the event was held entirely outdoors with no shelter from any unwanted showers. And much as we love an outdoor music festival, we're usually wearing wellies and waterproofs not stilettos and sparkles. We were welcomed with a glass of fizz and were wowed at the sight of over 50 tables adored with white linen and ice buckets and a flood of pink balloons.
What an event! How wonderful to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sunshine, wining and dining in beautiful surroundings whilst being entertained with some great music and lots of laughter. Having been spoilt at the delicious Bbq buffet with all the trimmings, and our bellies full of liquid confidence, we took to the dance floor to throw a few *creative* shapes. If there had been any talent scouts around that day - we would have been picked up and whisked away - straight onto a stage in London's west end. Definitely. We were on fire!
With a stage full of great artists, including the ever-amazing Big Mac's Wholly Soul Band, we rolled on a river, did the mashed potato and twisted the night away. Stopping only long enough to charge our glasses and polish off a welcomed hog roast supper.
The event, which included ticket sales, raffle and auction raised a whopping £40,000 for the charity. We’d definitely recommend Rock on The Rooftop if you’re looking for a super fun-filled day with friends and family. And all whilst raising money for an amazing cause. Hopefully we’ll see you there next year!
